In a distressing turn of events, dozens of rockets were fired from the blockaded Gaza Strip into Israel on Saturday, causing alarm as sirens blared across Israeli territories. The rocket attacks, which began at 06:30 am (0330 GMT), originated from multiple locations within Gaza.
Israel’s military also raised concerns by reporting that “a number of terrorists have infiltrated into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip,” though no further details were provided.
The consequences of these rocket attacks were tragically felt in Israel, with a 70-year-old woman critically injured and another individual trapped after a rocket struck a building in central Israel. Medics also reported a 20-year-old man suffering moderate injuries from shrapnel.
In response to the escalating situation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that he would soon convene security chiefs to address the ongoing violence.
Despite the chaos and danger posed by these rocket attacks, there were no immediate reports of casualties on either side of the heavily militarized border.
