Ontario, Canada Production for Civic Sedan

The first vehicle to hit the production line will be the Civic Hybrid sedan, scheduled for spring 2024 production at Honda’s Ontario plant in Canada. This launch signifies Honda’s commitment to North American markets and eco-friendly transportation.

Hatchback Assembly in Indiana

Shortly thereafter, the electrified hatchback version of the Civic will roll off the assembly lines at the Indiana Auto Plant, offering more choices to those who prefer hatchback designs.

Powertrain Pioneering in Ohio

Honda’s commitment to sustainable transportation extends to its Ohio facilities. The cutting-edge two-motor electric powertrain that powers these hybrids will be meticulously crafted at the Honda Transmission Plant in Ohio. It’s here that the heart of the Civic Hybrid’s power lies.

A Blend of Efficiency and Power

Under the hood, a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle gas engine will be manufactured at the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio. When combined with the two electric motors, this powertrain promises a harmonious blend of efficiency and performance.

Indiana’s Proud Role in Electrification

Roxanna Metz, the co-lead at the Indiana Auto Plant, expressed pride in her team’s role in Honda’s electrification strategy. She highlighted their contribution to the CR-V hybrid and the new Civic hybrid, emphasizing the impact on the transition to an electrified future.

Output Numbers Still a Mystery

While the exact output figures for the Civic Hybrid remain undisclosed, the European variant, powered by a four-cylinder mill and two electric motors, boasts 181 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque, accompanied by Honda’s e-CVT. A similar hybrid engine in the Accord Hybrid delivers even more power at 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque.

The Future is Electric

With over 50 percent of new Accord buyers choosing the hybrid version, Honda anticipates that at least 40 percent of new Civic sales will be hybrids when the Civic Hybrid makes its debut. The journey towards an electrified future has never looked more promising.

US Model: A Mirror of Euro-Spec

The US version of the Civic Hybrid is expected to closely resemble the Euro-spec model. Drivers can look forward to a 9.0-inch infotainment screen and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster as standard equipment, promising a seamless and technologically advanced driving experience.

Stay tuned for more updates as Honda’s electrified lineup continues to grow, leading the way toward a greener automotive future.
