Diplo and Chris Rock Seen Escaping Burning Man, Washington DC

Washington, DC – Diplo & Chris Rock Burning Man Adventure

Amidst a torrential rainstorm that left more than 70,000 Burning Man festival-goers stranded in the mud, renowned DJ and producer Diplo embarked on an unexpected adventure that culminated in a remarkable journey to his Washington, DC concert. The electronic music sensation, known for his chart-topping hits and high-energy performances, found himself traversing the desert on foot alongside a star-studded entourage, a generous fan named Tony, and some free-spirited festival-goers with a Sprinter van.

The chaos ensued after heavy rains saturated the Black Rock Desert, prompting festival organizers to suspend all vehicle traffic in and out of the area. Attendees were instructed to take shelter, conserve essential supplies, and brace for what seemed like an extended stay in the desert.

Diplo, along with celebrity friends including the likes of Chris Rock, Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber, and Austin Butler, made the bold decision to embark on a muddy odyssey out of the festival grounds. Speaking about the ordeal, Diplo noted, “Thereโ€™s no actual gate to open or close; itโ€™s just the matter of the mud ends and a paved road begins, and that paved road goes to Gerlach, Nevada, and we had a walk to that paved road.”

A video posted on Diplo’s Instagram page captured the surreal sight of Chris Rock riding alongside the DJ in a truck, humorously expressing his concerns about potential cannibalism and theft. Diplo quipped, “For sure Chris is going to have a huge bit in his next special about Burning Man.”

One of the highlights of Diplo’s unexpected adventure was the kindness of a fan named Tony, who provided a ride for several miles. The pair shared a memorable journey, enjoying the camaraderie reminiscent of a bygone era.

“We had a good time in the back of the truck. We rode for about four miles into the city, and we sat in a bar for a while and hung out with people and found a ride to Reno,” Diplo recounted, adding that he extended an invitation to Tony to attend some of his shows.

The adventure didn’t end there. Diplo and his group encountered a group of festival-goers with a Sprinter van and offered them $1,000 for a ride to the airport. With Neil Young tunes playing and beers in hand, they embarked on a three-hour journey, capturing the essence of adventure and spontaneity.

Diplo continued to document his journey on social media, revealing moments from boarding his private jet barefoot to ultimately making it to his Washington, DC concert at the Echostage venue. In a testament to his dedication, he exclaimed, “I somehow made the flight and I made the show. I have no idea how that happened.”

Despite the unconventional turn of events, Diplo praised the festival’s organizers, emphasizing that the experience wasn’t as dire as some portrayed it. He refuted claims of cannibalism and highlighted the resilience of festival-goers, who turned the muddy landscape into an art canvas. “They might have had to be out there for two extra days, but they had a great time,” he concluded.

In a remarkable twist of fate, Diplo’s rain-soaked Burning Man adventure turned into an unforgettable chapter in his career, adding a new dimension to his storied musical journey.
