Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Launches New Brand Campaign: “Accomplish Greatness

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) โ€“ The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has unveiled its latest creative campaign, titled “ACCOMPLISH GREATNESS,” aimed at highlighting the significant achievements of ACC’s student-athletes and academic institutions. The campaign, developed in collaboration with sports, music, and culture agency Wasserman and creative agency Laundry Service, was launched ahead of the ACC’s official college football season kickoff on Thursday, August 31, with a football-focused spot. It will continue with two multi-sport spots celebrating the ACC’s accomplishments in various sports throughout the academic year.

The ACC, known for its strong sports programs and academic excellence, aims to showcase its enduring success as it looks to the future. “ACCOMPLISH GREATNESS” will be rolled out nationally and in ACC member school markets throughout the 2023-24 academic and athletic year.

The campaign coincided with the opening of the ACC’s new league headquarters in Charlotte, marked by a flag-raising ceremony on Tuesday, August 29. Both the campaign and headquarters opening are part of the conference’s strategic approach to position itself for continued national success.

ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D., expressed his enthusiasm for the campaign, stating, “We’re thrilled to announce ‘ACCOMPLISH GREATNESS,’ which showcases the ACC’s commitment to our student-athletes, coaches, and institutions by highlighting the league’s successes across all areas of athletics, academics, community service, and beyond. I’m proud of the incredible achievements our conference continues to have, and we look forward to building upon this campaign.”

The campaign, a result of a conference-wide research effort conducted by Wasserman, draws on quantitative and qualitative data to create engaging and resonant content. It will include TV and radio spots, social media creative, digital media promotion, and school-specific campaign design assets for each member school.

“ACCOMPLISH GREATNESS” will begin its rollout as the ACC kicks off its college football season with 12 games in five days and will continue with future assets throughout the year. The campaign will highlight the ACC’s impressive successes, including:

  • The ACC has won 16 NCAA national championships in the last two academic years, more than any other conference.
  • The ACC has consistently had teams in the College Football Playoff or the BCS National Championship Game.
  • With the addition of women’s gymnastics in 2023, the ACC leads all Autonomy 5 conferences with 15 women’s sports offerings.
  • The ACC has won seven national championships in football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and baseball since 2015.
  • Sixteen ACC programs finished the 2022-23 season ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 in their respective sports.
  • All 15 member schools captured either an ACC championship or regular-season championship.

University of Pittsburgh Director of Athletics and previous Chair of the Athletics Directors, Heather Lyke, emphasized the conference’s commitment to excellence: “Through this campaign, we are striving to raise awareness of our many successes across all sports. Our conference led the country last year with nine NCAA championships.”

Jordan Fox, Head of Laundry Service, highlighted the dynamism of the ACC and its role in inspiring greatness, while Larry Gordon, Laundry Service Group Creative Director, emphasized the shared qualities of the 15 ACC schools that drive the campaign’s message.
